The event brings together economists and researchers to create a new economic paradigm centered on people, communities, and sustainability.

A hub of innovative ideas and practices, also extending to businesses and institutions, where the Manifesto for a New Economy Capable of Responding to the Challenges of Our Time is born.

Why do we need a Manifesto?

Faced with the global crisis and new social and environmental challenges, the limits of traditional economic paradigms are increasingly evident.
The Manifesto for a Renaissance in Economics—signed by over 350 Italian academics—proposes a change of direction: moving beyond reductionist approaches and embracing new models of thought. Five key directions have been identified, the pillars of the Manifesto:

Humans are more than homines economico; they also have altruistic preferences and are capable of cooperative equilibrium in social dilemmas;

Companies and organizations do not have the sole objective of maximizing profit, but can also have a concern for social and environmental impact;

Well-being is more than GDP and requires multidimensional well-being indicators and macroeconomic analyses that take into account the interdependencies between economic value creation and social and environmental spheres;

Political economy is not only top-down, but also includes the lever of participation and active citizenship in various forms;

Civic engagement of academicians is important in times in which vigilance and action to solve global crises are of utmost importance and we risk a broadening gap between scientific advances and the average culture and education of the overall population.
